Sanitetskvinnene, also known as Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforening, is a Norwegian nonprofit organization dedicated to improving women's health, emergency preparedness, and community safety. Founded in 1896, it advocates for better health services, supports women in vulnerable situations, offers free activities and safe meeting places through its women’s health houses, and runs a low‑threshold counseling center for relatives of individuals with substance abuse or mental health challenges. The organization also funds and conducts research on chronic gynecological conditions and promotes civil‑military cooperation for total defence. With over 45,000 members across 550 local chapters, Sanitetskvinnene engages volunteers in crisis response, first‑aid training, and local community initiatives.
